I am typing this review right now on the Balt adjustable mobile laptop stand. I was pretty excited when it arrived. The box says that this is the BLT-47262 model, and made in Taiwan. The manufacturer is Mooreco and they're located in Texas. The stand I received is from the Sep 2012 batch.I agree with Christi (her glowing review played no small part in my purchase decision) that the mahogany laminate top is by no means cheap looking and I actually like it. Generally, the materials are sturdy and all the parts appear solid. Nothing flimsy which looks like it might break. Now to the bad news. This may or may not be a deal breaker. Gonsoulin is absolutely right that there is a wobble of about 1/2 inches. The wobble is in the horizontal axis. Meaning that the top does not wobble up and down but rather if you rest your arms on it and move your arms, it will rotate about 1/2 inches as if you were swivelling the top.I looked at the entire mechanism for 10 minutes and I can't think of a DIY fix. But I did manage to identify the problem. The shaft which is used to allow the top to lower up and down has a "hexagonal" like design (there are actually more than 6 points). If you've used a painting pole like the Wooster Sherlock, you'll know that's a great idea as compared to a cylindrical pole, because if the "collar" is hexangonal also, there will be absolutely no play. Now Balt got this right, BUT its bottom collar does not match the "hexagonal" shape perfectly.. I have no idea why they chose a weird design, whereby the part of the collar that matches the "tip" of the "hexagon" is slightly rounded. This allows the top to wobble in the horizontal axis. This is design flaw that is SIMPLE to remedy. The fact that the top collar which attaches to the mahogany top is perfectly machined to fit the "hexagonal" shaft says that it's possible. It's such a huge PITY because unlike most of the cheaper stands I would think, the wobble is not because of flimsy materials but a design flaw. The second issue is more problematic. The pneumatic mechanism does not appear to be strong enough to resist the weight of my arms when I lean on the top slightly, say when I'm reading on my laptop. It depersses about 1 inch. If you let go of it, it'll rise back up again. This is very annoying for me. If a hand tightening lever or something is needed to supplement the pneumatic mechanism, then Balt should put it in, or use a stronger penumatic mechanism. So here goes my mixed review. I wished the 2 problems didn't exist, and I could be as happy with the desk as I was excited to receive it.If anyone has any DIY workaround suggestions, do let me know.I've also posted an number of photos to show the unpacking, and a closeup of the collar that was not machined to fit the shaft exactly.Update - I've contacted MooreCo about the 2 issues. They've acknowledged it, but gave a rather non-commital reply that they're "considering" a different mechanism:"Our Engineering and R&D departments are also considering the pneumatic issue that you brought up - potentially including a different type of locking mechanism on the height."I guess that means too bad for me, I've to live with the wobble and the sinking.
